Architects based in West Wales
PDL was originally founded over forty years ago, with our present format celebrating 30 years of multi-disciplinary Practice in 2012, having expanded to incorporate surveying and other disciplines. Along with the larger more complex projects, the practice has an enviable track record of sustainable new homes, house and cottage extensions, barn conversions, historic building renovations and disabled adaptions for private clients. During the last three decades we have won nearly 50 awards for our work in Architecture and Surveying in the built environment.
Our professional ethic is to encourage the team approach to problem solving on every project, large or small, and to include the client in the process as much as is practically possible. PDL produces solutions that are both consented and implemented and our approach is always flexible, innovative and analysis based, whether it involves planning and building regulation approvals, changes of use of buildings or working in conservation areas and National Parks on listed or scheduled properties and structures.
PDL has an excellent track record of success in delivering private and public sector commissions with respect to function, cost, time and quality, whilst creating buildings of striking aesthetics combined with a pragmatic approach to construction from the humblest cottage to bespoke sustainable homes and residential developments to a wide range of civic, conservation, educational, community, leisure, healthcare, religious, industrial, agricultural and commercial buildings, used and enjoyed by the building’s users and the public at large.
Although founded and originally based in Pembrokeshire, we also have an office in Carmarthen and regularly work throughout Carmarthenshire too, along with projects in Ceredigion (principally in the old county of Dyfed), and throughout Wales and beyond. Once engaged as a practice we aim to excite, educate, and inspire our clients with our design solutions.
Quite simply, we listen, we create and we deliver.
The craft of the Architect, like shoes that fit, is wrongly considered a luxury.
We often find that it is the simplest solution to logical planning or the buildings aesthetic that works best, as Leonardo da Vinci once famously said... "simplicity is the utlimate sophistication"
A good Architect will design you a home that will not just fit you today, but for when you get married, have children and grow old, ie. it will last you a lifetime. Most importantly, unlike builders or other tradesmen to be an Architect is to be bound by the ARb Code of Conduct, which means acting with honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and looking after clients money during the process. In short a builder will build you a house, an Architect will make you a home.
